Tutor
The Centre for Employment and Learning is looking to develop and grow an in-person and online tutoring program across AMDSB at various sites including Mitchell, Stratford and St. Marys. We are looking for individuals who can support students with their credit attainment and general learning.
Tutoring sessions will run in person or online, afternoons and evenings. A schedule will be determined by tutor availability and student interest.
Examples of areas of need:
Math – Gr 7-12, all streams
Science – Gr 7-12, all streams
Required Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:
Experience teaching or supporting learning;
Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and expertise in the course and/or subject area to which you are applying;
Applicants may be evaluated for math and language proficiency depending on experience and qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively
Demonstrated ability to work professionally as both a member of a team and independently;
Demonstrated proficiency and problem-solving skills in using technological applications and/or various online learning management systems;
Demonstrated ability to follow specific project requirements with excellent attention to detail.
Job Specifications and Requirements:
Support Gr 7-12 and adult students with their understanding of course material and provide additional instruction to promote achievement
Access and provide appropriate resources to students
Monitor CEL student progress through various adult ed courses and reach out to students accordingly.
Track student attendance for funding purposes.
Connect with teachers as appropriate to determine and support student needs
Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: Conditional on funding and need
Hours of Work: 3-15 hours per week. Afternoons and evenings as needed.
Rate of Pay: $27.84 per hour per hour in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union Centre for Employment and Learning Employees.
