General Purpose
The Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre (BDDC) is an interdisciplinary research centre, conducting world-leading research to develop sustainable bioproducts to substitute non-renewable materials in many manufacturing sectors including for automotive, consumer goods and biomedical applications. The centre brings together scientists from diverse fields including materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer chemistry, packaging and plant agriculture.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the BDDC Director, the incumbent is to provide administrative support to the day-to-day operations, organize data archiving, coordinate outreach activities, support the hosting of events such as workshops and other scientific meetings, support the development of award and grant proposals, as a BDDC team member. The incumbent may receive training to support other operational activities according to U of G internal protocols and project-specific requirements. The incumbent may also be expected to participate in the development of promotional materials and support website updates.
Requirements
- At least two (2) years of college or university program in science or engineering, along with some related experience, including basic knowledge to understand entry-level technical or scientific reports.
- Demonstrated skills in digital data organization, client support and services.
- Excellent oral and written communication in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and the ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with meeting/event organization and website development will be an asset.
