POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Vice President, Digital Health and Chief Information Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the management and strategic direction of the Health Records department, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements. This position will require occasional travel across the different Sunnybrook campus sites as well as partner sites for meetings, client relationship management and regular engagement with clinical areas. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop and implement the strategic vision and goals for the Health Records department, as well as provide operational guidance for all health records programs • Monitoring changes in legislation directly affecting health information management • Act as a change agent to promote adoption of new processes and technologies through effective communication of expected benefits and improvements to be achieved. • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to enhance health records processes and workflows • Implement and maintain electronic health records systems and technologies. • Provide strategic and operational leadership on healthcare information delivery trends, opportunities and risks and make recommendations for improvements to enhance the efficient delivery of patient care QUALIFICATIONS: • Canadian HealthCare Information Management Associated certification and member in good standing with the Association required • Canadian College of Health Information’s Management (CCHIM) is an asset. • Member of the Ontario Health Management Association (OHIMA) is an asset. • Knowledge of various legislation, regulations and policy regarding health records • A Master’s Degree in Health Informatics, Health Administration or Business is strongly preferred • Minimum 5 years of experience in health records required • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience within the health care sector • Experience using healthcare applications and technologies • High level of knowledge of clinical informatics and information management systems • Demonstrated ability in relationship building and change leadership to achieve co-operation, collaboration and consensus among diverse stakeholders including physicians, nurses, other regulated health professionals and IT • Ability to work independently and problem solve in a proactive manner demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in changing work environments • Able to create and execute plans ensuring timelines are met while working with a variety of stakeholders. • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written • Demonstrated embodiment of Sunnybrook core values
