Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Rehabilitation Assistant to join the South Health Unit team in Vancouver, working as a Physiotherapy Assistant. Apply today to join our team!

As a Physiotherapy Assistant you will:

  • Function under the operational supervision of the Manager or Team Leader to practice supervision of the PT Practice Coordinator and the direction of a licensed designated physiotherapist to work as a member of the health care team.
  • Provide assigned physical therapy therapeutic interventions.
  • Assist in modification of PT care plans in order to enable clients to maximize potential for independence.
  • Provide functional direction to client and family.
  • Report relevant observations of client’s condition and progress in writing or by utilizing basic computer literacy.
  • Manage equipment safety and inventory.

ABOUT HOME HEALTH PROGRAMS:

Home Health programs provide a range of health care and support services to people living in the community who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs.

THE CLIENT POPULATION:

Home Health clients typically have on-going health issues and/or complex personal and/or social issues, requiring care planning and coordination of appropriate resources. Clients include frail elderly, younger clients with disabilities, and adults with chronic illnesses requiring supports to maintain/promote independence. South serves the southern part of the city including Fraserview, Killarney, Oakridge-Marpole and Sunset neighbourhoods.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with Physical therapy components plus one (1) year’s recent, related experience working with target population or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
