GENERAL FUNCTION
As Supervisor – Edging & Mounting, you will be responsible for the supervision and management of production operations for the edging & mounting department of the Ottawa lab. You will also be responsible for managing a team of over 25 employees, applying and ensuring that EssilorLuxottica and Riverside Opticalab Group’s policies, principles, values and health and safety rules are respected.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Day-to-day operational management
- Control the workflow, analyze the nature of returns or rework and make the necessary corrections to maintain the quality and speed of lens manufacturing;
- Follow production schedules and the daily organization of his or her department in collaboration with all other departments;
- Propose technical or organizational solutions to production problems;
- Write and analyze KPI production reports;
- Ensure the supervision of the staff under his responsibility to ensure a productive atmosphere focused on results while maintaining a world-class level of quality;
- Monitor the inventory of raw materials, parts and consumables related to production;
- Monitor the maintenance of equipment and ensure the proper functioning and use of materials and equipment while maintaining a clean environment;
- All other related tasks.
Human Resource Management
- Ensure a climate conducive to the achievement of the objectives and the proper functioning of the group in accordance with human resources management policies, health and safety rules and Essilor’s principles & values;
- Master the company’s human resources management policies;
- Evaluate and conduct performance reviews of its personnel;
- Proceed and participate in the recruitment process and in employee training;
- Manage and support its team of team leads;
- Document and maintain the personnel file by recording significant events;
- Manage staff and apply appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary;
- Improve the skills and develop the versatility of its personnel;
- Ensure good communication within its team(s);
Administration
- Administer payroll by confirming hours worked and ensure vacation planning for his group;
- Follow up on personnel movements ( illness, incident reports, etc.) with Human Resources and keep their immediate supervisor informed;
- Administration of payable (purchases / supplier, receipt slip, invoice, etc.);
- All other related administrative tasks relating to his group.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in edging and mounting is an asset;
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in personnel management;
- Ability to manage priorities and multiple tasks in a changing and fast pace environment;
- In-depth knowledge of optics (optical language, edging & mounting, types of lenses, products, reading prescriptions);
- Positive leadership, excellent communication, autonomy and strong sense of initiative;
- Strong analytical skills and technical and organizational problem solving skills;
- Rigorous, honest, results-oriented and customer centric (internal and external);
- Possess a strong ability to adapt to dynamic changes and evolving circumstances;
- Computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.);
- Knowledge of production management methodologies, techniques and tools;
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written);
- Bilingualism preferred
Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
