What is the opportunity?
You will deliver insights and advice that are meaningful and timely with respect to bank and sovereign counterparties. You will support business units in their pursuit of high-quality earnings growth and returns through a disciplined approach to credit risk
**** Please note: This role can be at an Analyst or an Associate level, depending on the incumbent’s background and skillset.****
What will you do?
Transaction support
- Partner with business units to develop transaction solutions including provision of advice on structure, amount and term for borrowers as clients or as counterparties (eg. service providers), in alignment with RBC policies and appetite
- Assist with day-to-day management of client credit issues including preparation of business cases, setting single name strategic limits and managing excesses
- Participate in the on-boarding process and help ensure counterparties are properly rated, assigned sufficient limit and have fulfilled all regulatory and legal requirements needed to support credit activities
Risk identification
- Participate in continuous monitoring of counterparty and portfolio risks and ensure:
- Policies and guidelines are applied consistently
- Operational risks/control deficiencies are identified and reported
- Partner with Rating & Monitoring team to assist with regulatory reviews including annual reviews and help ensure relationship remains within RBC policy and risk appetite
Portfolio Management
- Interact with business units to provide information on assigned names within the portfolio including data and analysis on limits and utilization
- Ensure Annual Reviews of existing credit relationships are completed in a timely fashion and maintain a high quality of work
- Contribute to the production of portfolio statistics and management information reports in a timely and accurate manners (ad hoc and regularly scheduled) such as quarterly reporting, country exposure updates, peer reviews, stress testing)
- Proactively seek to simplify and innovate to improve efficiency and productivity through identification of enhancements and process re-design
What you need to succeed?
- University degree
- Minimum 2 years financial institution experience
- Solid financial analysis, research and problem-solving skills and working knowledge of the C.A.M.E.L approach to credit risk assessment
- Understanding of RBC processes, systems and policies
- Ability to interpret, explain and communicate opinions and recommendations using strong verbal and written presentations
- Working knowledge of trading products including derivatives and securities finance and non-trading product offerings supporting cash management, operations and trade finance
Nice-to-have:
- MBA, MA (eg. Finance, Economics)
- Post graduate designation ( eg. FRM, CFA, CPA)
- Work experience in a Back Office or Middle Office considered an asset
- Advanced data and computer management skills including proficiency with MS Office
