This is a temporary position until July 14, 2025, or until the incumbent returns. Stettler is located in the Heart of Alberta, just 179 km southeast of Edmonton and 101 km east of Red Deer. It serves as a regional hub with a main trading area involving over 11, 000 people. The town has a wide assortment of community facilities including an elementary/junior high school, a composite high school, a library, twin arenas, an aquatic centre, a performing arts theatre, and much more. The area also has a few golf courses and is close to Buffalo Lake. Stettler Hospital boasts a twenty-six bed Medical / Surgical Inpatient Unit that includes one Palliative and two LDRP suites, as well as two monitored close observation beds. Additionally, there is an eight bed Emergency Room and a Surgical / Endoscopy Program. Successful candidates will be required to work in Acute Care, Emergency Room, Operating Room, and Obstetrics. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Current required organizational learning.
1 – 2 years of Rural Nurse experience. Charge Nurse Training Course. Current certification in CAM A, CAM B, LEAD II, CTAS, and NRP. Completed / Current Connect Care training in Rural Nurse, Therapy Plan, Day Surgery, Labour and Delivery and Post Partum as applicable to scope. Rural Emergency and Obstetrical experience.
