We are currently accepting applications for Educational Assistant . Under the direction and the supervision of the Principal and in consultation with the Learning Resource Teacher (LRT) and classroom teacher, the Educational Assistant is responsible for the provision of support to students with exceptional needs within the school. The position involves dealing with confidential information and requires ongoing flexibility and diversity. In support of student learning, teaching, and other professional staff, the responsibilities are many and varied and include any or all of the following: supporting the instruction of individual and/or groups of students in an academic and/or integrated class environment, overseeing special education students and implementing special education programs related to behaviour, communication, intellectual or physical needs, where required.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of specific social/emotional and physical needs of students with learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, developmental disabilities, or physical challenges.

Qualifications and Experience:
Incumbents must possess a secondary school diploma and two year or three year Community College Diploma in one of the following: Child & Youth Worker, Registered Early Childhood Educator*, Behavioral Science Technician, Educational Assistant, Developmental Services Worker or Social Service Worker, Registered Nurse**, Registered Nursing Assistant or Registered Practical Nurse**
Bachelor Degrees in Child Studies, Sociology and Psychology will be recognized.
Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training/certification is an asset.
Related work experience would be an asset.
*RECE registration in good standing
**Nursing diplomas must be accompanied by proof of current certification
