Position Overview

Reporting to the Program Support Manager, Pharmacy, while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the PHARMACY TECHNICIAN MANAGER is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient provision of drug distribution services; works collaboratively with other members of the SBH Pharmacy staff to ensure that the compounding, preparation and delivery of medications to patient care units meets high standards for quality and patient safety and is aligned with the strategic priorities of the Program; responsible for the selection, training, discipline and evaluation of pharmacy technicians, students and support staff with respect to expected performance and competencies and supports the operational, fiscal and strategic objectives of the SBH Pharmacy Program; and other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Three (3) years recent experience as a Pharmacy Technician required, preferably in a hospital pharmacy.
  • One (1) year related experience or education/training in supervision or management is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Successful completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician Program required.
  • Membership in the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians preferred.

  • Project management skills to plan, organize and coordinate multiple activities.
  • Ability to utilize information technologies for communication, word processing, spreadsheet applications and other common needs.
  • Knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice including computerized unit dose, unit dose packaging equipment and intravenous admixture systems, and narcotic and controlled drug requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulations and acts governing the profession of Pharmacy in Manitoba.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in all hospital and patient related matters is maintained.
