Unit Secretary – Clinical Patient Flow and Utilization

In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Unit Secretary provides clerical and administrative support to maintain progressive, efficient, organized clinics to further enhance the patient and staff experience. The Unit Secretary manages the overarching patient schedule and works collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic setting to provide world class healthcare. The Unit Secretary will respond to patient telephone inquiries and coordinates patient care with supporting departments and physician offices.
What must you have?
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Medical Terminology.
What else do you bring?
- Prior experience in an administrative/clerical role required, preferably within a healthcare environment.
- Keyboarding skills (40 wpm).
- Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively deescalate situations
- Demonstrates Customer Service skills
- Proven attendance record.
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others and demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring.

Preferably, your profile also includes:
- EPIC, EPF, ESP experience.
- Previous experience within the Unit Secretary classification
