Detailed Overview
Under the direction of the Manager or Supervisor, performs pacemaker analysis and programs pacemakers to correct values/optimal settings within clinics, operating rooms or various areas of the hospital. Within the OR, assists the surgeon during implant procedures. Performs a variety of tests such as Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, holter and pacemaker programming, monitoring and other related procedures; provides interpretations, analyses and test/summary reports, as required. Monitors pacemaker functions; reports on abnormalities and responds to queries including troubleshooting. Participates in the development and review of standards, procedures and instructional material relevant to the department’s pacemaker services; assists in the training and orientation of staff and Surgery/Cardiology Residents in pacemaker functions and programming applications.

Education and Experience
Completion of a recognized Cardiology Technology Program at the Diploma level plus successful completion of a recognized pacemaker specialty exam, plus two (2) years recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) certified.
Skills and Abilities
