Right now we’re looking for a Biomedical Technologist to work in our Biomedical department.
Location: Humber River Health- Wilson
Hours of work: Must be able to work all rotating shifts – Days/Evenings/Nights – Weekends and Statutory Stats. Must be able to share 24/7 On-Call for Biomedical Services
Hourly rate: $38.794 – $46.334
Employee Group: NOWU
Responsibilities:
- Services, installs, maintains, and repairs all medical equipment including but not limited to the following; medical, lab, diagnostic, and electronic medical equipment safely and promptly
- Performs incoming inspections and testing on all new equipment and newly arrived equipment that has been serviced outside the hospital, and maintains an up-to-date incoming inspection and service record of this equipment
- Acquires the training and knowledge necessary to repair and service selected new and existing medical equipment
- Performs preventive maintenance tasks, maintains PM records, and participates in Department and Hospital Quality programs and initiatives
- Maintains competence by participating in hospital education and departmental equipment training programs
- Works with the other Biomedical Electronics Technologists and Hospital to ensure a safe environment for staff, visitors and patients
- Knowledge in Diagnostic Imaging systems is preferred
- Knowledge of IT networks is preferred
- Any tasks similar to the above that is determined to be necessary to the functioning of the Hospital.
- Project work and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Graduate of a Community College Biomedical Engineering Technologist program, or Graduate of a Community College Electronic Technologist Program with two years of hospital biomedical technology experience
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication and interpersonal skills
- A valid Ontario driver’s license required for travel between all hospital sites.
- CBET Certification is an Asset; however the selected candidate should be eligible to obtain the CBET certification within 3 years of hiring
- Willing and available to attend manufacturer’s training courses
- Good command of the English Language (both verbal and written) required.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, a communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 35 kg’s).
- Ability to work in fast pace environment
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
- Candidate will be expected to obtain CBET certifications within 3 years from hiring
- Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
