The Team
At the Dawson Creek Law Courts, you will join a small and dedicated Court Administration team of seven staff members. Working closely with other court and registry clerks, our team plays a key role in supporting the court system, ensuring that access to justice is available to everyone in the community. The Role
As a Court Clerk, you will manage court procedures, ensure accurate documentation, and assist the public with accessing court records and filing documents. This role offers a chance to work closely with justice partners like the Judiciary, RCMP, and Crown Counsel, contributing to a fair and accessible legal system. You will gain valuable experience in Provincial and Supreme court operations, including Criminal, Civil, and Family law.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED), AND a minimum two (2) years’ administrative support and/or customer service experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum one (1) year previous work experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and working with standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience in keyboarding with a minimum 40 words per minute (WPM).
• Valid B.C. drivers’ licence.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
• Experience in court programs and applications (e.g., JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
• Experience as a Court Clerk and/or Registry Clerk.
• Minimum one (1) year previous work experience in a legal environment.
• Post-secondary education in business administration or business courses.

About this Position:
Currently there is one (1) part-time (0.5 FTE) permanent opportunity available in Dawson Creek.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.

Dawson Creek is a historical and beautiful town, with outdoor activities like bird watching and hiking past waterfalls in alpine meadows and mountains ridges. Camping and fishing spots can be found in the provincial parks of Swan Lake and Kiskatinaw. Downhill and cross-country skiing at the nearby Bear Mountain is popular with locals and those in nearby towns.
