Duties:
Reporting to the Principal, the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) will partner with the classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day Catholic early learning program. The ECE will provide supervision and age-appropriate programming, and will collaborate in the design of program, which will enhance children’s cognitive, physical, emotional and spiritual development.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Completion of a post-secondary education program in Early Childhood Education (or in progress);
Registered member, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators;
Recent experience as an ECE working in an Early Learning Centre or Daycare;
Experience planning and implementing age appropriate programs;
Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Early Learning Program, including the Extended Day Program and related legislation;
Ability to communicate effectively in a sensitive and courteous manner with children, parents, staff and the general public;
Proven commitment to maintaining confidentiality;
Ability to deal with difficult situations and to take appropriate action in stressful and/or emergency situations, according to policies and procedures;
Basic computer skills, strong organization and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines;
Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
A vulnerable sector check valid within 6 months from date of hire is a condition of hire with the Board.
