The Team
The Stewardship Department is a dedicated team of three skilled registered professionals focused on sustainable and ecologically responsible forestry. Established in 2006, the team is committed to world-class land-base stewardship, overseeing everything from initial planning to managing old-growth ecosystems. Working closely with various provincial teams and experts-from silviculturists to ecologists and Indigenous communities-this department plays a critical role in upholding legal standards, best practices, and continuous improvements in resource management.

The Role
As a Stewardship Forester, you will provide expert guidance on sustainable resource management, helping shape policies and practices that support responsible forestry and ecological balance. Your work will include evaluating resource applications, consulting with Indigenous communities, reviewing proposals, and representing the ministry in professional settings. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to immediately transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to FPBC within six (6) months of employment.
    *Under-implementation of the position at an LSO 1A level may be considered, provided the candidate is registered with FPBC and is actively articling/in-training by the time of the offer of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management related field, OR equivalent education (Diploma in a natural resource management related field etc) and experience as recognized by Forest Professionals BC.
  • Experience working in natural resource management.
  • Experience in partner engagement, negotiation and/or conflict resolution related to natural resource management.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.

This position has full time on-site requirements.
