Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Mental Health Therapist – Staff $35.546 to $43.466

Job Description: Reporting to the Manager Mental Health & Addictions the incumbent assists in the development and implementation of programs for youth with serious emotional, behavioral and mental health & addictions problems. This includes the delivery of group educational activities, life skills programming, addictions programming and family work.

Experience

  • Minimum of one year experience in the area of child and youth mental health

Education

  • Degree in Human Services/Health Sciences or related field

Other Education and Training

  • Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable

  • Knowledge in Motivational Assessment Process
  • Accurately triage addiction(s), collectively develop a recovery and case plan. ?
  • Knowledge of systems theory and human lifespan development
  • Ability to cope effectively with stress, change, and diversity
  • Knowledge in youth mental health impacts and systems of complex care
  • Knowledge in child development, family systems theory and attachment theory
  • Ability to assess, treat and implement mental health plans for youth & families
  • Ability to competently use computers and software applications
  • Ability to provide public presentation and professional training.
  • Knowledge in appropriate treatment modalities for adolescents and their families
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal development
  • Knowledge in addiction issues and mental health disorders
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act
  • Knowledge of Matrix Addictions Programming
  • Knowledge in Mental Health and Addictions
  • Knowledge in mental health/illness impacts related to children and adolescents
  • Knowledge in development model of recovery (SMRS)
